ABECN was the first of its’ nature in Canada and at the time it was known simply as the Alberta Building Envelope Council (ABEC). ABEC began with a group of individuals that felt there was limited knowledge, if any, of the building envelope; how it works, what it impacts, and how it can be better. They saw that there was a need to share and advance the developing, and quite unknown, field of Building Envelope.
